SAN BERNARDINO, CA—The San Bernardino Superior Court is excited to announce a special outreach event at the Joshua Tree Courthouse on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 10 AM- 1 PM, featuring the debut of the court’s new community vehicle, “Justice in Motion.”
This event expands access to Community Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment (CARE) Court services, connecting individuals who qualify—or may qualify—with vital support. Attendees will have access to:
- Self-Help Services for document preparation and filing
- An on-site judicial officer for prima facie eligibility determinations
- Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) representatives to answer questions and guide participants
Who Qualifies for CARE Court?
CARE Court serves adults (18+) with schizophrenia spectrum or other psychotic disorders, offering a less restrictive alternative to involuntary conservatorship or hospitalization. Eligibility requires:
- Severe mental illness (schizophrenia or related disorder)
- Not clinically stabilized in voluntary treatment
- CARE plan is the least restrictive option for recovery
- Likely to benefit from participation
This initiative reflects the Court’s commitment to bringing justice to the community and aligns with its Strategic Plan goal: “The Right Services in the Right Places.”
“We are thrilled to see our court community vehicle making its first trip to the community of Joshua Tree,” said Presiding Judge Lisa M. Rogan. “This first deployment reflects our promise to bring justice directly to the people we serve.”
“Our first trip to Joshua Tree shows how this vehicle helps us bring services directly to the community in a practical and innovative way,” said Court Executive Officer Anabel Z. Romero.
The event is open to the public; no appointment is needed.
