San Bernardino Superior Court
The San Bernardino Superior Court (SBSC) administers justice throughout the largest geographic county in the contiguous United States, serving a population of more than 2.18 million across 20,105 square miles and 12 court facilities. The San Bernardino Superior Court supports this diverse community by handling civil, criminal, family, probate, small-claims, and traffic matters across multiple courthouse locations. The Court is committed to improving accessibility and public service through modernization and expanded online services.
Judicial Governance provides oversight and direction for the Court's operations, ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in the administration of justice. Through collaborative leadership between the Presiding Judge, Assistant Presiding Judge, and Court Executive Officer, Judicial Governance promotes strategic planning, sound policy decisions, and the effective management of our resources to best serve the public.

Hon. Rodney Cortez
Presiding Judge
Judge Rod Cortez serves as the Presiding Judge of the San Bernardino Superior Court for the 2026–2027 term. In this capacity, he provides strategic judicial leadership and oversees court‑wide policy direction, case flow management, and judicial assignments for one of California’s largest trial courts. -
Hon. Kyle S. Brodie
Assistant Presiding Judge
Judge Kyle S. Brodie serves as the Assistant Presiding Judge of the San Bernardino Superior Court for the 2026–2027 term. In this capacity, he supports the Presiding Judge in providing judicial leadership.

Anabel Z. Romero
Court Executive Officer
Ms. Romero serves as the Court Executive Officer of the San Bernardino Superior Court. She provides executive support to the Presiding Judge, 104 judicial officers, and oversees more than 1,100 employees.
