Children’s Waiting Rooms

Since 2016, the San Bernardino Superior Court has provided Children’s Waiting Rooms at designated court facilities. This program provides a safe place for children away from the courtroom, which can at times be an upsetting and frightening experience.

The Children’s Waiting Rooms are operated and staffed by a private vendor, Choices for Children, with credentialed and experienced childcare providers, trained to interact with children positively.

Please review the court’s policies and procedures regarding the waiting rooms.

Services Available

• A supervised play environment for children between the ages of 2 ½ (toilet-trained) and 14 years of age
• A drop-in/free program offered to parents and guardians who are conducting court business
• Operated Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM (except court holidays)

The Court currently offers Children’s Waiting Rooms at the following locations: San Bernardino Justice Center, Historic Courthouse, Fontana Courthouse and Barstow Courthouse. See specific information for each site below.
